Objective

For this task, the client had already created a stunning mixed garden that reflects their love for local coastal plants, while integrating their favorite exotic trees, including an elegant use of European Birch. Our initial task was to revitalise the garden (pruning, weeding, mulch), with a long term view of maintaining a sustainable permaculture inspired veg garden and citrus grove.

Outcome

This garden provides a prime example of the mutual satisfaction that is possible when working closely with the customer on their beloved patch. On top of the enjoyment of being in such a beautiful space, the customer has enjoyed squeezing seasonal citrus for breakfast, cooking meals with freshly foraged ingredients, and sharing produce with family and friends. Not to mention the cumquat marmalade (which we're all still getting through!)

Objective

This is one of those projects where if you could see the before shots you probably wouldn't believe the after! The client came to us with a complete blank slate and a desire for a big lawn for the kids to play on and a native, flowering garden. With took their penchant for kangaroo paw and Palm Springs architecture and created a simple, low maintenance, stylish garden on a young family's budget. Utilising mass planting, mounds, and organic toppings we blended elements of popular coastal gardens and classic Palm Springs styles. Raised cypress veg beds, a feature washing line, hardwood baton pool pump enclosure and a kids play area incorporating whole sugar gum trunks for climbing on all work together to blend the practical with design aesthetics.

Outcome

Whilst it is early days for this garden yet the immediate enjoyment was impossible to ignore. We loved sharing the garden with their kids in the mornings before school as we installed the finishing touches around the property. A lot of care was put into rejuvenating and preparing the soil for planting, as well as an extensive slow drip irrigation system. We have been thrilled to watch the plants thrive in their new home.

Objective

This client came with a lovely set of hand drawn plans to turn a practically barren bush block into their dream coastal weekender. From the outset I could tell this was a couple who enjoyed spending time in their garden, so we took their plans and designed them some bespoke landscape features including a harvest garden of raised wicking beds, native plant mounds, a semi shaded yoga deck, and a living shower (of which we are especially proud.)

Outcome

We were amazed by how quickly things came to life in this newly completed garden, it was exciting to watch the plants explode into summer with fresh veg and flowers changing the face of the property. The new ways the garden flows from feature to feature along the dromana toppings path, and the way light suddenly filters through the angled pergola creating patterns in the backyard throughout the morning. Whilst modest in size, this garden made a big impact on us and we love to return from time to time for a visit to check on how the living shower is growing.
